There are several ways to make Dandelion tea and we will help you find one that is easy for you.
However if you are planning on using dandelion tea for medicinal purpose I suggest you contact you doctor first since it can interact with some medication.
Dandelion has many benefits but you still should be careful like with anything you put in your system since we are all reacting different.
Dandelion root tea
If you make your dandelion root tea from scratch you will have to take a few steps first.
- After digging up your roots from the garden you should rinse them of as good as you can to remove any dirt.
- The next step is cut the root in small pieces and chop them smaller in a good processor or blender.
- Set your oven at 250 Fahrenheit and spread the chopped dandelion root on a baking sheet for about 2 or 3 hours to dry it.
Now you can store your dried tea roots in a dry place. I prefer a glass jar for this since I do not like plastic.
Preparing the tea is not different than any other tea.
You can use your tea egg or make you own teabag. You can also just pour the roots in a the boiling water and let is seep and after that filter the tea before you drink it.
Most important is to sit down, relax and enjoy the dandelion tea.
Dandelion leave tea
The leaves of the dandelion contain lots of vitamin-C, Iron, phosphorus and calcium just to mention a few.
If you pluck the leaves fresh from you yard try to pick the ones that look the healthiest. This will make the tea less bitter probably.
- Use 1/4 cups of fresh leaves
- Pour hot water on them
- Let steep for about 10 minutes
You can use Stevia or any other organic sweetener to your taste but try to stay away from sugar since this one of the most unhealthy thing to use.
Now again it is important to relax and enjoy your dandelion tea.
Organic dandelion root tea
For the ones who can not use the dandelion in their yard or prefer the pre made organic dandelion root tea there are several brands available. I have my own preferred brand that I order online. Starwest Botanical organic dandelion root tea that I buy in the 1 pound bag.
